Central Library

 
  • Computer

Computer labs within the Universiti Malaya library are equipped with an internet connection. We provided areas where you can bring your own device at Information Common (Level 3) and 24 hours area. Computer Lab B (32PCs) and Computer Lab C (20PCs) are designated for Postgraduate and research purposes ( Lab B and C) and disabled individuals (Lab S). Computer lab S intended specifically for the disabled individual (Lab S) which consist of 10 PCs. There are also computers that are open to the public to be used, including 10PCs located at the Collaborative Learning Area (CoLA), 6 OPAC PCs on the 2nd floor, and 20PCs at Digital Corner.

  • Discussion rooms

Any registered library member who wants to hold a private discussion may reserve a discussion room. The use of the room is limited to a maximum of two hours. Discussion rooms are located on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th level. To make a reservation, please go to the service counter at Level 1 and complete the reservation form one(1) day before the usage date. You may obtain the key from the service counter on the day of use.

  • Carrel Rooms

The Library provides 39 carrel rooms for postgraduate students, academic staff and researchers. There are 21 carrel rooms prepared for the visually impaired students. Use of the rooms is on a first come first served basis. No reservations are allowed. Please go to the service counter at Level 1 to register and obtain the key.

  • Printing

Cloud printing services are provided by commercial companies within the library. This printing machine is placed in the 24-hour Study Room and on Level 3.

  • Locker

Locker is available during the library’s opening hours. The locker room is located on the left side of the library’s main entrance.

  • Wi-Fi access

This Library is equipped with ‘internet without wire” or Wi-Fi signal. Access is also for users who bring laptop or tools that can be connected using this signal. Login Wifi using your registered UM email username and password. For visitors, please get the temporary password at the Information Desk.

  • Reading areas

Reading facilities are available on each Library floor. Users are advised to leave library books on trolleys after usage. Do not attempt to shelve used books. Shelving items in the wrong places will result in severe retrieval difficulties.

  • Self Returning Book Kiosk

Self Returning Book Kiosk operates 24 hours a day. Users can used this facility to return books at any time and their records will be automatically updated.

  • Self Charging Machine

Central Library has two Self Charging Machine. Students can charge their book on their own. They must keep the receipt for reference.

  • Leisure Corner – TV Area

Library users can obtain leisure in this corner. There are also corner for Read@Uni programme.


T. J. Danaraj Medical Library

 
  • Service Counter
  • Provide the following services:
    • Borrowing and returning library materials
    • Reservation and retrieval of locker room, discussion room and academic room
    • Thesis loan
    • Interlibrary loan application

  • Computer lab

The computer lab is equipped with Wi-Fi with a 25-seat capacity. PC not provided. Users need to carry a laptop.

  • Carel Room

There are 6 carriages and 6 open carriages available to library users.

  • Reading Room

Conducive reading space is provided to library users.

  • Discussion room

There are 1 discussion rooms that users should book at the service counter.

  • Terminal OPAC

Computers are provided to library users to search library materials using online catalogs.

  • Academic Room

This room is reserved for UM faculty with a capacity of 10 people. Booking and retrieval of key are at service counter.


Tan Sri Prof. Ahmad Ibrahim Law Library

 
  • Discussion Rooms

Four (4) discussion rooms can accommodate up to eight (8) users. Registration can be made at the Service Counter.

  • Photocopies

Photocopying services operated by commercial vendor is available at Level 1. Self-service photocopying facilities are also available at ground floor and cards can be purchased from commercial vendor. Users are advised that permission to make copies of library materials is subject to the Malaysian Copyright Act 1987.

  • Carrel

There are twelve (12) daily carrels for postgraduates. Students can book the carrel at the Services Counter.

  • Computer

There are eight (8) computers for users to access library resources and browse the internet.

  • Lockers / Shelves Storage Bags

Lockers are for the temporary storage of personal belongings. However, the Library cannot be held responsible for any items that go missing or are damaged in the lockers.

  • MOOT Room

MOOT room is the latest facility for students to prepare for the MOOT competition.

  • Reading Areas

The library provides 500 seats for users at a time. A Quiet Zone located at Level 2 has designated for users who need for silent study.

  • WiFi Access

The library premises are equipped with WiFi facilities. Users need to register with the Information Technology Center before they can use this facility.

The library provides service counter for borrowing and returning library materials internally

  • Reading Area

There is a reading room and a leisure area available to library users.

  • Photocopying

Photocopying services operated by commercial vendors are provided in the Library. There are staff-operated and self-service photocopying services. User should observe and comply with the current legislation on copyright in Malaysia.


Built Environment Library

 
  • Reading Areas

The built environment library provides 133 seats for users at time which is covers a floor space of about 835 sq. meters.

  • Discussion Areas

This Discussion Area is located beside the library office and accommodate with 16 seats. This area is spacious and very interesting for any discussion and meeting. It is open to anyone who interested and users only need to make a reservation at counter services. Projectors are also provided for teaching and learning facilities.

  • Standing OPAC (PC)

Computers with Internet connections are provided for use in the Library for searching information from Library catalogue.

  • Student Centre

Located at Level 3, Mercu Alam Bina was designed to give students space for study and relaxation between classes.

  • Surau/Musolla (Praying Room for muslim)

Located at the second floor of Mercu Alam Bina for both male and female.

  • WiFi Access

Access is available within the building with a number of access points.

  • Cafe

The faculty’s café is located at level 3 and is open during office hours on weekdays.

Education Library

 
  • Service Counter

The library provides service counter for borrowing and returning library materials, and also for fines. The loan privileges and fines are same as applied by Central Library. The borrowing privilege is limited for 2 items only for registered members. Users may ask staffs at counter on matters related to library or to get some references.

  • WiFi Access

Access is available within the building with a number of access points.

  • Reading Areas

The Education Library has provided reading areas for students which are available up to 50 users per time.


Engineering Library

 
  • Reading Areas

The engineering library provides 105 seats for users at a time. There are 9 carrel tables available for users who need privacy.

  • Computer

Computer facilities are available up to 4 users per time and equipped with an internet connection.

  • Discussion Room

There are 3 discussion rooms in the Engineering Library. The first discussion room can accommodate 7 peoples at a time and there are computer and projector facilities. The second discussion room has 2 discussion tables that can accommodate 12 peoples at a time and the third discussion room also provides computer and desk that can accommodate 4 peoples at a time. There are also a comfortable sofa for students to discuss leisurely.

  • Photocopy

Self-service photocopy are also provided. Every user must take notice and comply with the current Malaysia’s copyright law pertaining to reading material photocopy.

  • Lockers

Locker is available during the library’s opening hours. The locker room is located on the left side of the library’s main entrance.

Indian Studies Library

Computer facilities are available up to 4 users per time. Tamil language software installed to support user needs.

  • Discussion Room

Any members who want to hold a private discussion may reserve a discussion room and limited to two-hours basis. Discussion rooms are located at the 5th level and reservations may be made at the service counter on the same level. Discussion room is only for registered member.

  • Carrel

The Library provides 7 carrels for undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic staff and researchers. Also, include are Carrel rooms prepared for the visually impaired students.

  • Photocopy

Self-service photocopying provided. Every user must take notice and comply with the current Malaysia’s copyright law pertaining to reading material photocopy.

  • WiFi Access

The Library provides 6 carrels for postgraduate students, final year undergraduate students, academic staff and researchers. Carrels are for daily use and will be charged out at the Service Counter.

  • Photocopy

Self-service photocopying machine operated by commercial vendors is provided in the Library. User should observe and comply with the current legislation on copyright in Malaysia.

  • WiFi Access

  • Computers for Pendeta Discovery

The library provides 2 computers for users to serve Pendeta Discovery which allows users to search for items in the library collections and to view/renew items checked out and status of account.

  • Reading Areas

Reading facilities are available up to 25 users per time.


Malay Studies Library

Computer facilities are available up to 5 users per time and also 1 PC for users with special needs (OKU).

  • Discussion Room

Any members who want to hold a private discussion may reserve a discussion room and limited to two-hours basis. Discussion room is only for registered member.

The area are provided special to postgraduates & academician to hold a discussion.
