Academy of Islam was established on 1st April 1981 after the incorporation of the Kelantan Foundation for Islamic Higher learning into the University of Malaya. It was later officially known as the Academy of Islamic Studies as the result of the re-organization of the Academy of Islam on the 15th January 1996.
The Library has a collection of over 35,000 volumes, comprising printed and non-print materials in Arabic, Malay, English and other languages.
The Red Spot collection which consists of packages recommended by lecturers as part of their course reading lists and the Audio-Visual Collection are also available.
