The Languages and Linguistics Library is located on the ground floor of the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics new block. In October 1986 the Library was absorbed into the University Library System. The Library provides services to all academic staff and students pursuing courses at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics. It is also open for reference and limited borrowing privileges to registered members of the campus community.
Total collection in the library is almost 11,000 consisting of books, theses, project papers and conference papers. The main core reading materials are related to Malay education and field works such as Malay literature, linguistics collection and socioculture. Although the collection are mainly for reference and close stacks only, all users are allowed to do the internal loan.
Computer facilities are available and equipped with an internet connection.
Lockers are for the temporary storage of personal belongings. However, the Library cannot be held responsible for any items that go missing or are damaged in the lockers.
The Library provides 6 carrels for postgraduate students, final year undergraduate students, academic staff and researchers. Carrels are for daily use and will be charged out at the Service Counter.
Self-service photocopying machine operated by commercial vendors is provided in the Library. User should observe and comply with the current legislation on copyright in Malaysia.
This Library is equipped with ‘internet without wire” or Wi-Fi signal. Access is also for users who bring laptop or tools that can be connected using this signal. Login Wifi using your registered UM email username and password.
Reading facilities are available on every floor of the Library. Uses are advised to leave library books on trolleys after usage.
